Professional Identity Training of the university teacher based on the analysis of critical incidents. (FI_PANIC)
Main Researcher: Carles Monereo
Participating group members: UAB (David Duran, José Reinaldo Martínez, Ibis M. Álvarez, Marta Fuentes, Margarida Romero, Crista Weise, Silvia Blanch); URL (Montserrat Castelló, Eva Liesa, Anna Iñesta, Mariona Corcelles; M. Paula Mayoral); UdG (M. Lluïsa Pérez Cabaní; Carretero; Josep Juandó); UOC (Antoni Badia, Lorena Becerril)

Duration: 2010-2013
Funding:  Dirección General de Investigación y gestión del Plan Nacional I+D+i. Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (Spain).
Reference: EDU2010-15211

Objectives:
The research we are submitting aims at; firstly, identify which are the critical incidents that more often and more intensely destabilize the teaching task of the university professors in the field of social sciences through a tool created for this purpose. Secondly, we will prepare a training proposal focused in the resolution of the identified critical incidents, based on a guideline for the analysis of critical incidents which will be applied to five different situations: a) the use of the guideline only, b) the use of the guideline + a personal journal c) the use of the guideline + peer tutoring d) use of the guideline + collaborative virtual medium and e) use of the guideline + resolution of simulated problems. Finally, with a pre-test/post-test design with control group and multivariate analysis, we will compare the efficacy of the different formative proposals among them and with a control group, both in relation to the elements relating to the professional identity (changes in their insights and roles, in their methodological and strategic knowledge and in their emotional resources), and in relation to the teaching practice (the way in which they deal with critical incidents in their classes).

EVACOOP- Evaluation of the cooperative and the co-regulative strategies in educational contexts through authentic tasks

Main Researcher: C. Monereo
Participating group members:
A. Badia, M. Castelló, R. Carretero, M. L. Pérez, E. Liesa, I. M. Álvarez, D. Duran, J. R. Martínez, M. Fuentes, I. Gómez and M. Corcelles.
Duration: 2007-2010
Funding entity: Subvention of the Dirección General de Investigación (MEC) inside the Programa Nacional de Investigación.
Granting reference: SEJ2007-60868/EDU

Objectives:

The research that we present aims firstly at elaborating a set of authentic evaluative tasks (well and ill structured problems, simple and complex), that fulfil the PISA requirements, and that allow us to build a reliable and valid instrument, useful to evaluate the co-regulation and cooperation mechanisms that students at the end of the compulsory education deploy.
Secondly, using this instrument we will identify, analyse and categorize the most outstanding difficulties of these students regarding their cooperation strategies and abilities.
Finally, based on the former analysis, we will design a set of metacognitive scaffolds, aimed towards the compensation of the students’ needs, and we will test it with a sample of previously evaluated students so as to determine its efficacy in the improvement of students’ cooperative strategies and abilities.
